Happy summer! ‘Happy Birthday’, the latest single from the pillows will drop 9/16/13, their 24th anniversary! There will be a regular version and a version with a bonus DVD as well.

Catching up on release news, Yoshiaki Manabe released a new solo album, Rutile this past November.

Sawao has a solo single that will be released in just a couple of weeks, Answer, available as both a standard edition and a limited edition with a bonus DVD. The single will be followed by an album, Hakaiteki INNOVATION (Destructive innovation) to be released 2/13/2013, also both as a standard edition and a limited edition with bonus DVD.

Now that the tour excitement is over, let’s catch up on some new release news!

Tedious ManNext month on the 12th, a new solo album, Tedious Man, from lead singer Sawao Yamanaka drops. There will be a regular edition and a limited edition with a bonus DVD featuring two music videos. Guest artists include Kosaku Abe of The Collectors, Akiko Fukuoka of Chatmonchy and the original bassist himself, Tatsuya Kashima.

Born Again
A new tour DVD will also be released on the same date, Born Again, featuring the pillows live at Zepp Tokyo from 4/24/2011 on their Horn Again tour.

Finally, a collaborative album called Time Machine was just released this month, featuring an instrumental rock track from our favorite guitarist, Yoshiaki Manabe.

New single Comic Sonic will be released June 8th! Tracks are ‘Comic Sonic’ and ‘Goodbye Present’. Comic Sonic is featured as an ending theme for the anime SKET DANCE. Born in the 60s, a new concert DVD, will be coming out next month on the 16th! The DVD will feature footage of the pillows, TOMOVSKY, THE COLLECTORS, Dohatsuten, and The Pees from last year’s tour of the same name. Check out the preview video below – there’s a clip of the pillows starting at 2:40.
